Bengaluru: At Vidyaranyapura, potholes run deep
Despite the details of the location being shared with the BBMP major roads no step were taken towards repairing the stretch.
Bengaluru: For residents of Doddabommasandra and Vidyaranyapura, the long frustrating wait for better roads and proper drains is never-ending.
Sunil Yadav, Secretary, Citizen Action Forum Welfare Association (CAFWA), said, “Urgent attention is needed at Doddabommasandra Main Road and at Vidyaranyapura. We have brought the issue of potholes to the BBMP major roads division, but potholes at several places were never filled up.”
Despite the details of the location being shared with the BBMP major roads no step were taken towards repairing the stretch.
“BBMP should not wait for the disaster to happen. At Doddabommasandra there is no provision for the footpaths. We request short term solution to provide us a walkable footpath. The BBMP and the local corporator should also ensure that it does not get misused for parking two wheelers,” he added. BBMP, however, claims the footpaths will be constructed once it takes up road widening.
Advocate Som Shekar of the CAFWA recently filed a police complaint against the Assistant Executive Engineer of the BBMP and the corporator, after a person fell into the drain on June 18 and later succumbed to injuries.
“After my complaint arrangements were made to cover the drain. Wherever potholes are seen the authorities should be pulled up. Police complaints should be filed against the officials for negligence. More and more people should come up and file complaints against those responsible for the negligence. Potholes can result in fatal accidents,” Som Shekar added.
‘local mla is ignoring Vidyaranyapura’
Q&A with Corporator Jayalakshmi Pillappa’s husband, Pillappa.
The condition of roads at Doddabommasandra and Vidyaranyapura are pitiable. Are you aware about this.
At Doddabommasandra we have no issues. There are potholes at Vidyaranyapura and I am personally taking it up with the BBMP major roads department. Every day I personally inspect the potholes.
There is hardly any walkway for the pedestrians. Two wheelers are seen to be parked on the drain slabs. What do you have to say on this.
There is a step motherly treatment towards this ward. The MLA Krishna Byre Gowda should answer why he has this approach towards a BJP ward. I have been taking up civic issues. The MLA has to take a call. Vidyaranyapura Road is full of potholes.
