Mysuru: 60 progressive farmers and their success stories
Inspired by their success stories, he himself turned to farming using advanced farm and water conservation techniques.
Mysuru: At a time when farmers are abandoning their farm land and ending their lives, a book with a collection of success stories of 60 progressive farmers titled 'Bangaarada Manushyaru' and 'Krishi Samskruthi Kathana' on agriculture, authored by Chinnaswamy Vaddagere, was released at Kiruranga Mandira in Mysuru on Sunday. It was released by five progressive farmers the author has profiled.
Mr Chinnaswamy is a former journalist and politician and is now a progressive farmer. He disclosed that he had once turned his back on his 25 acres of agricultural land at his native village Vaddagere in Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajnagar when there was neither adequate rain nor groundwater. Later, he decided to visit successful progressive farmers and visited more than 100 of them to learn how they overcame their problems.
Inspired by their success stories, he himself turned to farming using advanced farm and water conservation techniques. To inspire other farmers, he has profiled the successful farmers he had visited. He has also been instrumental in making efforts to get Vaddagere lake in his village filled with water.
The book also has a profile of internationally recognised farmer Nenamanahalli Chandrashekar from Kolar district, who has cultivated multiple crops along with 300 mango trees in 30 guntas of land with proper planning by using advanced farm and water conservation techniques and organic farming.
