BJP objects to encroachments in JNTUK
Kakinnad: Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday asked University Grants Commission chairman M. Jagadish Kumar to take steps for checking a religious community from occupying lands of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK).
BJP state general secretary Vetukuri Suryanarayana Raju, party official spokesperson Y. Malakondaiah, city coordinator G. Satyanarayana, and party’s Kakinada district president Ch. Ramkumar called on Jagadish Kumar at the JNTUK VCs office.
They informed him that a religious community has occupied a portion of the JNTUK site illegally. It has gone on to construct religious structures and shopping complexes, in spite of a case pending in the AP High Court. They informed the UGC chairman that the community now wants to start prayers in the area with active connivance of ruling party.
The BJP leaders requested Jagadish Kumar to issue instructions to JNTUK and state government to check the community’s activities before the situation takes an ugly turn.
