Hyderabad: A case has been registered against the principal of St Patrick’s School in Chintalkunta, LB Nagar, for allegedly beating a Class X student with a stick for not carrying her school diary to school. The LB Nagar police acted on a complaint they received from the student Suchitra.
The principal, P.C. Chandrashekhar Rao, has been booked under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and also under Section 354 IPC (outraging the modesty of a woman).
P. Venugopal Rao, assistant commissioner of police, LB Nagar, said, “We received the complaint from the student herself. Her parents came along with the girl to complain against the school principal.”
He said the school authorities deny the girl was beaten, but gave contradictory statements saying that “red marks have been observed on her hands”. They further said the student was not regular in the school and hence they were a bit strict with her.
Balala Hakkula Sangham, a child rights organisation, has demanded action as the principal had also allegedly beaten the girl on her buttocks, according to her statement.
