No change in ration shop system: TN food minister
Though the state has joined the Centre's Food Security Act, TN will not implement its recommendations, the minister said.

Chennai: Public receiving provisions from fair price shop need not worry, as the existing system will not be disturbed, state food minister R. Kamaraj told reporters here on Monday.
Though the state has joined the Centre’s Food Security Act, TN will not implement its recommendations, the minister said. Tamil Nadu is a pioneer in executing the free distribution scheme and the PDS scheme has been aimed at benefiting the public.
Similarly the price of essential commodities provided in ration shops will not be hiked, the minister said.
