BJP flouted Assam Accord, says Asaduddin Owaisi
According to Assam Accord, all illegal immigrants irrespective of religion should be detected.
HYDERABAD: All India Majlis- e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday questioned the intention of the Bhartiya Janata Party on the final draft of the National Register of Citizen (NRC) in Assam.
Mr Owaisi said, “According to Assam Accord, all illegal immigrants irrespective of religion should be detected. Protecting Bangladeshi Hindu by the party is against the soul of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.”
He further said, “If a politician or (Amit) Shah says that 40 lakh people living outside the NRC draft are illegal immigrants, then the Supreme Court should take cognizance of such a strange statement, because it is contempt of court. What about BJP MLA Ramakanta Deuri? Is it because his name is also out of NRC’s draft?”
