Hyderabad: Ever since TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy vacated the Huzurnagar Assembly seat after winning the Nalgonda Lok Sabha seat, the TRS and BJP have their eyes on Huzurnagar by-election.

Huzurnagar by-election is going to be a prestige issue for the Congress, TRS, and the BJP. In the tussle, while the BJP will try it’s best to show its strength, it’s a matter of prestige for the TRS.  But the Congress will also leave no stone unturned to win its vacated assembly seat back.

Huzurnagar has been a stronghold for the Congress and a senior leader said that TPCC and MP Uttam Kumar Reddy wanted his wife N. Padmavathi Reddy to get the ticket. But other senior leaders too are visiting the national capital to meet Ahmed Patel and Ghulam Nabi Azad for the Huzurnagar ticket.

As per Telangana BJP chief Dr K. Laxman, focus is on strengthening the party in the entire state, and as part of this, the Huzurnagar by-election will be the priority after the notification.

Though the BJP wasn’t able to perform well in the recent assembly elections, after bagging four Lok Sabha seats, the party cadre’s morale was quite high in Telangana.

A senior leader from Nalgonda said the BJP was aggressively carrying out its membership drive in Huzurnagar which would strengthen the party and give it a chance to show that it was flourishing. It is expected that senior leaders will soon be visiting from Delhi for booth-level meetings making sure to dent the Congress and TRS cadre.

A senior leader in the TRS said the last time’s candidate Sanampudi Saidi Reddy might get the ticket again as he was just behind by 7,466 votes from Congress candidate Uttam Kumar Reddy in the Huzurnagar assembly election.  “This time, the absence of Uttam Kumar as a candidate himself can be a good chance for us to win,” he added.
