HYDERABAD: A high-end car driven by one Vegunta Divya went amok, crashed into a tree and a divider before coming to a sudden halt after hitting a pole on the road side at Filmnagar in the early hours of Monday. The woman got out of the vehicle and went away, leaving the vehicle behind. She received injuries on one of her ankles and was admitted to a hospital, the police said.

According to police, Divya, 25, an advocate residing at Madhapur, was coming from Raidurgam. After crossing Mahaprasthanam, she took Road No. 78 and was heading towards the Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge. While negotiating a curve, she lost control of the wheel and the vehicle hit a tree on the left side at about 1.30 am.

Filmnagar station house officer M.G.S. Ramakrishna said passersby alerted the police who went to the spot, moved the vehicle to the police station and traced the owner. The vehicle is registered in the name of V. Prakash, Divya’s father.

Prima facie it was found that the incident happened due to over speeding. As it rained a little before the incident, it could also have added to the vehicle going out of control. Police said that they were verifying if she was drunk at that time.
