Layout Regularisation Scheme: 35,000 forms for land suspect
KT Rama Rao had roped in special teams to take up cross-verification with data of 28,000 illegal buildings and layouts.
Hyderabad: Cross-verification of Layout Regularisation Scheme applications in the GHMC and HMDA area by the municipal administration and urban development department has revealed that 35,000 plots in layouts can be rejected at the scrutiny level itself.
Following complaints that GHMC and HMDA staff had recommended approvals for illegal plots by accepting bribes, minister K.T. Rama Rao had roped in special teams to take up cross-verification with data of 28,000 illegal buildings and layouts. The teams comprised officials from the ACB, MAUD and the directorate of town and country planning.
During verification, officials found that 5,000 layouts in GHMC limits and 30,000 in HMDA limits had encroached on nalas, lake beds, catchment areas and industrial zones. The minister had ordered an ACB probe into the alleged corruption by GHMC and HMDA staff in approving LRS applications, and grave irregularities were found.
