Bengaluru: Amid the growing discord between BMRCL and the city’s citizen groups over the Metro track alignment near Cantonment Railway station, the Railways have added a new twist to the controversy.

They have refuted BMRCL’s claim that it had demanded that Metro tunnels below railway lines should run 30 metres deep.

South Western Railway (SWR) Chief Public Relations Officer Vijaya said, “There is no such rule in the Railways as far as I know. Metro has to only get approval from the Railway board for their design, if it is going under Rail lines. Below KSR Railway station the metro line is only eight metres deep."

The Deputy Commissioner of Railway Safety, E. Srinivas, said, “I don't think there is any such order or circular, stating the metro has to be 30 metres under the railway line. If there was, we would have been notified about it.”
