Hyderabad: Memo issued to prevent misuse of vehicles
Many officers are buying cars on family members, relatives names and using it for official purposes.
Hyderabad: The commercial taxes department has issued orders to curb the misuse of vehicles. It received complaints that certain officials in the department were using their own vehicles and listing them as rented in order to claim vehicle charges.
The memo was released after the four wheeler association gave a representation that many drivers who bought vehicles with owner-cum-driver licence were at a loss.
It was ordered in the memo by the department commissioner, Mr Anil Kumar, that, “All the commercial tax department officers should only rent vehicles with tax number plates. Else serious action will be taken against them.”
The responsibility to keep tabs on this issue was handed over to the joint commissioner of the commercial tax department. The four wheeler association also raised concerns regarding the pending bills to them.
Mr Shaik Salauddin, from the four wheeler association mentioned that, “Many officers are buying cars on their family members and relatives’ names and using it for official purposes. On the other hand drivers who buy vehicles with owner-cum-driver license are losing their jobs.”
“Officers are taking their vehicles along with them when they get transferred, and as a result, the driver is at the receiving end as he loses his job. All these should be seriously curbed for the drivers to sustain,” Mr Salauddin added.
Highly placed sources mentioned that, joint commissioners have been looking at the issue personally and all the deputy commissioners and other higher officers were asked to use the rented vehicles only.
Though most of the officers have accepted the move, it is said that there is some dissent regarding the same.
