Hyderabad: Power cuts anger city residents
Greater Hyderabad has 480 feeders of 33KV which serve 2,250 feeders of 11KV.
Hyderabad: Though southern discom chairman and managing director G. Raghuma Reddy has been assuring the public that the department can deal with power outages, the public is not assured. Power users are accusing the electricity department of mismanagement and delay in restoring power in several places.
Greater Hyderabad has 480 feeders of 33KV which serve 2,250 feeders of 11KV.
A senior official of the electricity department said there are complaints of power cuts after heavy rain, and these are addressed. He said the 11KV feeders are mainly being impacted but electricity officials are vigilant and are fixing those that have gone off feeder within half an hour.
City resident Ashish Tiwari was not convinced. Tagging the TS Southern Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TSSPDCL) and minister K.T. Rama Rao, he tweeted: “Multiple power outages hitting our area Brahmanwadi, Begum-pet. Please help and resolve the issue Today 2 times and yesterday four times power cut experienced. (sic)”
Mr Kiran Reddy, who lives in Vengalraonagar, Ameerpet, complained of a two-hour power cut. Worst hit by outages are Jubilee Hills, Ameerpet, Secunderabad, Konda-pur, Kalyannagar, and Monda Market.
