Railway Minister Darshana Joins Swachhata Hi Seva Program at Visakhapatnam Station
Visakhapatnam: Darshana Jardosh, the Union minister of state for railways, who is currently on a three-day visit to Visakhapatnam, actively participated in the Swachhata Hi Seva programme organised by the Waltair Division at Visakhapatnam railway station on Saturday
Addressing the media, Jardosh highlighted that the railways had been taking part in the Swachhata campaign from September 15th to October 2nd. This initiative aims at raising awareness through community participation to promote the implementation of Swachh Bharat Machines, reinforce the concept of sanitation as everyone’s responsibility and set the stage for Swachh Bharat Diwas (2nd October) with nation-wide participation. She stressed the importance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a Swachh Bharat and urged everyone to take responsibility in making India proud.
She also actively participated in the Shramdaan activity, engaging in intensive cleaning at Visakhapatnam station’s circulating area, inside the station and on a train. Appreciating their role in maintaining cleanliness at the station, Jardosh interacted with Safai Mitra and enquiring about their health and working conditions. She distributed cloth bags to passengers, encouraging them to join 'Ban Plastic' campaign to reduce single-use plastic.
Furthermore, she held discussions with divisional officials and GatiShakti unit officials to develop comprehensive programmes to combat plastic pollution and manage garbage effectively. She commended the division’s efforts in making the station one of the cleanest in India.
