HYDERABAD: Addressing a long pending demand of the 17,000 ration dealers, the BRS government has doubled their commission from Rs700 to Rs1,400 per tonne.

Addressing the JAC (joint action committee) of ration dealers at his residence in Hyderabad, Consumer Affairs Minister Gangula Kamalakar handed over the government order to this effect to them. “This will come into effect immediately. Of the commission burden of Rs303 crore to be paid, Rs245 crore will be borne by the state exchequer looking at the welfare of the dealers. No other state has doubled the commission of the dealers at a go.”

To guard the people from hunger the state government was giving 1 kg additional rice over and above the 5 kg given by the Centre. “We are also giving rations to 90 lakh additional beneficiaries who are not covered by the Centre. We are spending Rs3,000 crore annually for the welfare of people, he said.
