Bengaluru sees spike in eye injury cases

Bengaluru: A 12-year-old boy would have lost his vision if he had delayed reaching the hospital even a bit late. He was lighting crackers near his house when a flame hit his eye. His parents rushed him to Vijaya Netralaya, where ophthalmologists treated him for corneal injury. The doctors said that if there had been any delay, he would have lost his sight. The hospital had reported two cases of eye injury in the last two days. Narayana Nethralaya reported 44 eye injury cases, of which three were major and the victims were children.

The city witnessed many cases of eye injury again on Monday. Government-run Minto Hospital reported 14 cases, of which three were major. Sankara Eye hospital reported 18 cases, while Modi Eye Hospital reported seven cases.
