Kozhikode: Crackdown on illegal hoardings, flex boards
The special squad removed more than 1000 flex boards and hoardings in Azhiyur grama panchayat on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Kozhikode: As the High Court ultimatum to remove illegal hoardings and flex boards at public places ends in October, there was a massive crackdown on them in the last few days.
The special squad removed more than 1000 flex boards and hoardings in Azhiyur grama panchayat on Tuesday and Wednesday.
"The National Highway-66 stretch, from Poozhithala to Mukkali were cleared on Tuesday. Boards and other decorative items put up at Kunjipally, Mukkali and Chombala harbour were removed on Wednesday," said Azhiyur panchayat secretary T. Shahul Hameed. The panchayat had convened an all-party meet, and all agreed not to put up illegal hoardings.
As per HC order, from November application should be furnished to the LSG body concerned to place a hoarding in public place.
"The spot of the hoarding to be placed, the material, the display content etc. should be made clear in the application. If the LSG sanctions permission, the hoarding could be erected for a maximum period of 60 days," says Vadakara Municipal Corporation chair K. Sreedharan. Flex material should not be used if it was banned in the LSG concerned.
