The district administration has joined hands with Mad(e) in Mumbai Architecture' to construct these toilets in the city.
Warangal: Warangal city will soon have model toilet blocks at all junctions and important public gathering points across the city, said district collector Prashanth J. Patil.
The district administration has joined hands with ‘Mad(e) in Mumbai Architecture’ to construct these toilets in the city.
P.J. Patil and GWMC commissioner V.P. Goutham were shown the designs of these model toilets by Mayuri Sisodia, the principal architect of Mad(e) in Mumbai at the Collector’s Conference Hall here on Wednesday.
Ms Mayuri said that Jaipur and Jodhpur in Rajasthan have already been utilising these toilets successfully.
Mayuri said that these toilets do not cause any kind of trouble to the pedestrians or other travelers as they are constructed underground. Designs suitable for bus stations, highways, pavements, parks etc. were presented by Ms Mayuri.
The collector said that a team of contractors, engineers and sanitation officers were sent on a study tour to Rajasthan to observe the working of these toilets.
He said that they would set up these toilets in five locations in the city initially, to see how they are received by the citizens. “Land for the construction of these toilets would be provided but we will draw agreements to give the responsibility of maintenance to the construction companies,” the Collector said.
