Rahul to visit Medigadda Barrage today
Warangal: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would visit Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Thursday to study the situation in the Medigadda (Laxmi) barrage. The barrage had sunk due to cracks that appeared in its pillars constructed by the state government under the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme.
Receiving the application from the TPCC leader Shashi Bhushan Kache, district collector Bavesh Misra gave permission to Rahul Gandhi to visit the site by helicopter. The helipad is set up near the Medigadda barrage at Ambatipally village in Mahadevpur mandal.
Before visiting the Medigadda barrage around 8 am, Rahul Gandhi would participate in a conference of 5,000 women. He is likely to explain about the six poll-eve guarantees given by the Congress to the state’s voters.
Meanwhile, the police imposed a ban order at the Medigadda barrage. Congress Manthani MLA Sridhar Babu is overseeing the arrangements for the Rahul tour. Rahul Gandhi is visiting Manthani constituency for the second time in ten days.
The pillars of the Medigadda barrage constructed under the Kaleshwaram project sank and cracks appeared on the pillars, halting the vehicular movement between the two states — Telangana and Maharashtra.
