Hoardings ring election bells in Vijaywada
Politicians believe that banners would give them sufficient publicity.
Vijayawada: The presence of political hoardings in the capital city, are a clear indication that ‘election fever’ has started. Outdoor advertisers are also giving ‘smart solutions’ to their clients. The recent political appointments of MLC Budhha Venkanna as the Whip and NMD Farooq as chairman, Legislative Council, have occupied hoarding spaces near the Police Control Room in the Capital city.
These hoardings have become the main attraction for those going to the Secretariat, every day and being a political communications strategist, Mr. Budhha Venkanna has been doing this exercise for a long time. “It has helped him in building image among the masses, and that’s why Mr. Venkanna is very particular about placing these hoardings for various occasions, at strategic locations,” said a corporator.
In fact, many corporators are waiting for an opportunity to place the hoardings of MLC Mr. Budhha Venkanna, as and when the occasion arises. Otherwise, they will create an occasion to put up the hoardings, since the coming year is crucial for aspiring young leaders like Mr Budhha Venkanna and Mr Devineni Avinash.
In fact, Mr. Devineni Avinash’s associates are keen on capturing every opportunity in the city, to put up political hoardings of their leader, apart from praising the services of former minister late Devineni Rajasekhar.
“But, we follow social occasions to put up such huge hoardings,” said a close associate of Mr. Devineni Avinash. In the Capital region, hoardings of minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao have been placed in Uddandarayunipalem and Venkatayapalem, on the occasoin of his birthday. “The hoarding culture was not there earlier in the Capital villages,” said Marri Venkata Ramana, a local of Venkatayapalem.
He added that the followers of the ministers, MLAs and MLCs are now searching for space in the Capital region villages, to place hoardings to attract the attention of the CM. “This practice has been giving enough revenue to the outdoor advertisers too, apart from providing publicity to the political leaders,” said a field executive of an outdoor advertising agency.
