Hyderabad: Social Media users remained active as passengers onboard the Hyderabad Metro for the second day shared their experiences during the new way of commute.
Some complained about the Metro fares in their tweets but were quickly shot down by other users.
A student from Madhapur tweeted, “You cannot expect clean and fast public transport and also expect it to be cheaper than this. It cannot work both ways.”
Ganga Dheeraj, a student tweeted with the hashtag, #NotHappy saying, “After waiting all these years, the ticket vending machines were under maintenance and even the security system for baggage was not working at KPHB station.”
While many tweeted saying that they were not expecting these issues on the first few days itself, a few also said that if the crowd seen on the first day continued for long, the idea behind public transport will be fulfilled.
Sowdari Uday Reddy, a resident of Hitec city tweeted, “Hyderabad Metro Rail, where are the dustbins in each station? Your employees could not answer.”
Sowdari who boarded from Ameerpet said that he asked assistants for dustbins at more than three stations but they could not direct him and he went on to say that unless waste disposal was properly ensured, Swachh Hyderabad would not happen.
However, the most tweets were regarding the inconsiderateness of other passengers. A techie from Gachibowli tweeted, “Despite announcements being made inside the Metro to vacate seats for the elderly, many kept sitting. Have Hyderabadis forgotten manners?” Many replied in favour saying that the parking done by many passengers outside the station was done in an ‘unruly’ manner creating traffic obstruction.
A few tweets also poured in appreciating the assistance of officials at the platform who had to ensure that the crowds were waiting in an orderly function.
