Police kept up with Ivanka Trump's security twists: K Chandrasekhar Rao
Mr Rao said all the departments concerned had worked in coordination.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his happiness and satisfaction over the successful conduct of the GES-2017, and Hyderabad Metro Rail inauguration in the city. The CM congratulated Chief Secretary S.P. Singh, Director-General of Police M. Mahendar Reddy, civil and police administration at a meeting at Pragathi Bhavan on Thursday.
Mr Rao said all the departments concerned had worked in coordination. He felt that after the success of GES, the prestige of Hyderabad had been enhanced globally. The CM stated that though the details of Ms Ivanka Trump’s visit was kept a secret, the local police prepared Plan A and B and ensured total security for her.
Mr Rao said US officials had earlier said that she would fly in by a special jet but she came in a passenger flight; they maintained that she would stay at Hotel Westin but she stayed at the Trident. They even kept secret her plan to visit the Golconda fort till the last minute, he said. Despite all this, the police made foolproof security arrangements at all places which she visited.
“The police responded quickly to the last minute changes in her programmes. This is precisely the reason why US Secret Service officials congratulated DGP Mahendar Reddy when they were leaving the city,” Mr Rao said. The CM said he had received a message from the Centre praising the police.
“Since Ms Trump attended the event, the US Secret service was directly involved in the security arrangements. The Union home ministry also kept a tab on the events due to the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union ministers,” Mr Rao said. The Intelligence department, Grey Hounds, Special Intelligence Bureau and other departments chalked out plans and these were coordinated by the Hyderabad Police and executed in a very efficient way, Mr Rao said.
Mr Rao also appreciated the way the police managed events like GES, Metro Rail inauguration and eight more different important programmes as well as providing security to the VVIPS during their visits on the same day. “This has increased the prestige of Telangana state. With their team spirit, excellent cooperation, the police have helped the successful conduct of the first ever mega event in the Telangana state,” the Chief Minister said.
