LDF sweeps bypolls in Ernakulam district

Kochi/Thrissur: The LDF won all three panchayat wards, one municipality and block panchayat divisions each in the byelections in Ernakulam district held on Thursday.

LDF candidate K.J. Joshi wrested the Marangulangara division of Trippunithura municipality with a margin of 450 votes. NDA candidate won 393 votes and the UDF candidate 287 votes. Other winners: Rejitha Sankar (CPI-Vavakkadu division in Paravur block); Asha Senthil (LDF, Kottuvally panchayath); Sampathkumar V.K. (LDF, Elankunnappuzha panchayath) and T.A. Jose (LDF, In Vadakkekkara panchayath)

LDF swept all the five local body seats in Thrissur. LDF retained all its four seats and grabbed one from BJP at Parappukara in Puthukkad region where BJP have considerable number of supporters.
