Dharmapuri: Police look for teacher booked under Pocso Act
However, no action was taken against the accused teacher till the parents had resorted to a protest in front of the school.
Dharmapuri: The Pennagaram All women police of Dharmapuri are conducting probe to trace a math’s teacher who went into hiding following a police complaint given against him.
Prakash Kumar (54) worked as the math’s teacher in a government middle school at Vellisanthai, near Palacode here in Dharmapuri. He was placed under suspension, a few days ago, allegedly for misbehaving with two of his girl students.
The misbehavior incident came to light after a minor girl unable to tolerate his trouble had informed her parents. Shocked by this, the girl’s mother gave complaint to the school’s headmaster and also to the block education officer.
However, no action was taken against the accused teacher till the parents had resorted to a protest in front of the school. The Mahenderamangalam police came to the spot and had talks with the angry parents.
The protest was withdrawn following the promise that the Prakash Kumar will be arrested if the charge against him was found true.
The police conducted a probe and found that the misbehavior charges against the government teacher was true and of which a case was registered against him under Pocso Act.
He was also placed under suspension. Two others, the school’s headmaster and the block education officer will face a departmental enquiry for not acting immediately after the complaint against the accused teacher was received by them. The All Women police station at Pennagaram conducted a probe to trace Prakash Kumar who went into hiding after coming to know that the police have booked a case against him under POCSO act.
