RTC runs fewer buses for women
The special buses for women should be more frequent and they should be on time, said Malini Kumari, an employee of Genpact.
Hyderabad: Buses are the only affordable mode of transportation for many citizens. There are special buses for women only but women complain of the low frequency of the service.
Ms Jyothi Lakshmi, who works in an insurance company, said that the dedicated bus for women from ECIL to Secunderabad often gets delayed. “As a result many working women like me are forced to board any bus that arrives first. The special buses for women are always safe to board as we don’t have to think of any untoward incidents.”
The special buses for women should be more frequent and they should be on time, said Malini Kumari, an employee of Genpact. The frequency has reduced since partitions were made in buses, she added.
Deputy chief traffic manager TSRTC, P. Jeevan Prasad says they haven’t decreased the number of trips, but due to the increased number of commuters during peak hours, women commuters may be facing difficulties.
“The main challenge that TSRTC faces now on every route is to convert the losses into profits. There are a few routes that have a loss of '10 per kilometre and we can't afford more losses,” Mr Prasad said.
