Research scholars file PIL for ISC in Osmania University

Hyderabad: A PIL has been moved before the Hyderabad High Court seeking to its direction to the Telangana government and the authorities concerned to ensure steps to hold the Indian Science Congress (ISC) at Osmania University as per the schedule.

Mr S. Kiran Kumar and research scholars of the varsity moved the PIL stating that the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of the university had made all arrangements by spending Rs 50 crore to conduct the 105th science congress from January 3 to 7 on the campus.

They alleged that the conference was adjourned due to the false reports submitted by the chief secretary, principal secretary to home, DGP and City Police Commissioner to the Centre and the Indian SC Association by citing the law and order as a reason.

Official fined for wilful disobedience
The Hyderabad HC has sentenced the Prof. Pra-deep K. Sharma, registrar of Postgraduate & Research Institute, Dak-shana Bharatha Hindi Prachara Sabha in Che-nnai to pay a fine of '2,000 for willful disobedience of order of the High Court.

Justice P. Naveen Rao imposed the fine while disposing off a contem-pt case filed by D. Seetha Naidu, retired principal. The registrar did not act on the HC order to pay retirement benefits to the petitioner under AP Pension Rules as his organisation was exempted from those rules.

TTD grilled on action taken against SVB CEO
The Hyderabad High Court has asked the TTD and AP Endowm-ents Commissioner to inform the court whet-her the TTD’s chief vigilance officer has made any inquiry into alleged irregularities in appoi-ntment of the CEO to Sri Venkataswara Bhak-thi Channel and alleged misappropriation of channel funds.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranga-nthan and Justice G Shyam Prasad was dealing with a petition which sought direction to the AP government for taking action agai-nst the CEO for the irre-gularities committed in the management.
