Hyderabad: Record-level visitors at zoo on January 1

Hyderabad: The Nehru Zoological Park received about 35,000 visitors on the New Year, which is the highest for this fiscal year.

The zoo officials said they have struggled to manage the huge crowd that turned out on Tuesday. 

The zoo authorities had opened a special counter for the day to restrict the entry of the polythene covers. Even though a special counter was opened for the public, it took lot of time for the people to buy the tickets and to enter the zoo.

The officials said they are happy that no untoward incident took place.

This came in the wake of the recent incident when a two-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a battery-operated vehicle in the first week of December at the zoo.
