TIRUCHY: The one day ‘Shirk (Mooda Nambikai Ozhippu Mahanaadu) conference’ organised by the Tamil Nadu Towheed Jamath appealed to the Central government to provide 10 per cent exclusive reservation for Muslims in education and jobs at the all -India level.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the conference held here on Sunday.
The meeting also wanted all festival concessions extended to Hindus during occasions like Deepavali and Pongal to be extended to Muslim festivals also.

The conference strongly condemned the Union government’s reported
attempt to “hide” the history of Hyder Ali, Tipu Sultan and other Muslim freedom fighters-cum-kings, besides criticising the government’s move to withdraw minority status for Muslim universities.

It also urged that life prisoners who have completed 12 years jail term to be released immediately.
