Army Jawan who died in avalanche laid to rest

Visakhapatnam: The last rites of Army jawan (soldier) Mamidi Nagaraju, who died after avalanches hit the Gurez sector of the Srinagar Valley on January 25 this year, were performed at his native village  Maradam  under Dattirajeru mandal in Vizianagram district on Wednesday. District collector Vivek Yadav and a few others paid homage to deceased Nagaraju.

Earlier, floral tributes were paid to the mortal remains of Sepoy Mamidi Naga Raju on arrival at the Vizag airport on Tuesday night.  Naga Raju while serving in 18 Mahar Regiment died in an Avalanche in Gurez Sector. The body of the Jawan was flown into Vizag from Srinagar.  

Military Honour and Wreath Laying Ceremony was conducted at Shradhanjili Sthal at Airport by Col B Parkhe Admin Commandant, Station HQs (Army) Visakhapatnam as a mark of respect to the deceased with a Ceremonial Guard of the Navy in attendance.  

Representatives of the district administration, police and Zilla Sainik Welfare Officer of Visakhapatnam have also paid tributes to the deceased and top official form revenue and others departments paid tributes to the departed soul at Maradam village with Police Band in attendance.
