Electoral roll says Kerala has 2.54 crore voters
The number of women voters which stood at 1.31 crore is higher than the male voters whose number is 1.22 crore.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Over 2.54 crore voters are there in Kerala in the final electoral roll published on January 30 including 3.43 lakh new voters.
The figures were released by Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena at a press conference here on Friday. The precise number of voters is 2,54,8711. During two months electoral revision 3, 44, 715 voters were added.
The CEO said of the 3,43,215 new voters enrolled 2,61,780 are first time electors. The number of women voters which stood at 1.31 crore is higher than the male voters whose number is 1.22 crore. The number of transgender voters in state has increased from 18 to 119.
Malappuram district has the highest number of total voters, new voters and women voters. The number of NRK voters has increased from 22,000 to 66,584.
Kozhikode has the highest number of NRK voters followed by Malappuram. 1.15 lakh deceased voters have been deleted from the electoral rolls.
The process of adding voters to the electoral rolls will continue.
Meena said the state has 24970 polling booths and the number of new booths is 510. The process of identifying sensitive booths is gong on . All doubts and queries regarding electoral rolls could be checked at toll free number 1950.
He said the poll announcement is likely to happen in first week of march and the general elections would be held some time in April and May.
