Thiruvananthapuram: UDF high power committee meeting on Friday decided to conduct the seat sharing exercise between allies of the UDF from February 10 through bilateral discussions.

Though allies demanded more seats, the Congress said that the meeting was not intended to discuss the seat sharing. The decision on seat sharing can be done during bilateral discussions, they said.

The bilateral discussions are being scheduled to be held simultaneously with the Kerala Yatra of Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. The  places will be chosen by the allies themselves.

The bilateral talks were necessitated as two partners — the Indian Union Muslim League and Kerala Congress (M) had demanded an extra seat.

In 2014, the IUML had contested from Malappu-ram and Ponnani. KC (M) represents the Kottayam seat.
