Telugu states not happy with Budget 2019

The Centre did allot any funds to Metro projects at Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

The Central government, which refused to grant special category status to AP, did not allot any funds under special financial package to the state.

Hyderabad: The Central government’s interim Budget presented in the Lok Sabha on Friday disappointed both the Telugu states. The interim Budget made no allocations for some of the important projects in both Telugu states.

The Telangana state government is demanding recognition of Kaleswaram as a national project. Even Niti Aayog had earlier recommended that the Centre allot special funds to Kaleswaram, but the Centre did not do so.

The Andhra Pradesh government expected the Centre to allot funds to Polavaram, recognised as a national project. But the Centre did not mention the proposed steel plants at Bayyaram in Telangana State and at Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh.

The Centre has allotted Rs 1,850 crore to Singareni and Rs 80 crore to IIT-Hyderabad and Rs 4 crore to Tribal University.

The Centre did allot any funds to Metro projects at Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. It did not mention about a separate railway zone to Andhra Pradesh, which was assured in the AP Reorganisation Act.

The Centre also did not allot funds to Duggirajupatnam Port, coastal corridor and other important projects.
