Govt has already indicated plans to launch a universal basic income scheme for farmers that would have a fixed cash component.

Warangal: Agriculture can also generate profit if organic practices are followed, said G. Narasimha Raju Yadav member of Indian Rice Development Council (IRDC) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

Speaking at the organic farmers’ convention themed ‘Sustainable agriculture - Social development’ held by NGO Bala Vikasa at Kazipet, the Padma Shri laureate explained to farmers how one can succeed in getting good yields with organic farming.

Mr Narasimha Raju Yadav holds the distinction of reaping 30 quintals of Basmati rice in one acre through organic farming. About 1,500 farmers from 40 villages took part in the convention. Bala Vikasa founder Bala Theresa Singareddy said that water is the key ingredient for agriculture just like the heart is to the human body. There is a need to harvest water through individual farm ponds.
