Rs 5,600 crore LoA for BHEL power unit
A BHEL release on Tuesday said this was followed by foundation stone laying ceremony for the project.
Tiruchy: Reposing confidence in BHEL’s technological and project execution capabilities, the Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, handed over the Letter of Award (LoA) for setting up the Main Plant Package for the 2x800 MW Uppur Supercritical Thermal Power Project (TPP) to Atul Sobti, CMD, BHEL, in Chennai.
A BHEL release on Tuesday said this was followed by foundation stone laying ceremony for the project. Against International Competitive Bidding (ICB), BHEL has bagged this major order for setting up the 1,600 MW coal-based thermal power project with super critical parameters, involving two units of the country’s highest rating 800 MW sets, in Tamil Nadu, the release said.
Valued around Rs.5,600 Crore, the order for the main plant package for the greenfield 2x800 MW Uppur Supercritical Thermal Power Project, in Ramanathapuram district, has been placed on BHEL by Tangedco.
Significantly, this is the second 800 MW rating supercritical order awarded to BHEL by TANGEDCO in less than a month, reinforcing BHEL’s position in the forefront of power equipment industry in India.
This prestigious order comes close on the heels of the Main Plant Package contract for 1x800 MW North Chennai Supercritical TPP Stage III in Tamil Nadu, also placed on BHEL by TANGEDCO, last month.
