Kerala: NGO association protests against transfers
Protesters allege even differently-abled staffers were not spared the retaliatory measures.
KOZHIKODE: The Pro-UDF government employees' organization, NGO Association, began an indefinite relay strike in front of the district collectorate on Thursday alleging arbitrary transfers in the health department. The Association alleges that even differently-abled staff was not spared the retaliatory measures.
"Around 40 employees were transferred in the district without any reason since December. The list included a speaking-impaired clerk at Thalakulathur CHC and a nursing assistant at Orkattery CHC who is physically challenged," said NGO Association district president N.P Balakrishnan.
The protesters say that the district medical office was not showing them the courtesy of responding to them. "The arbitrary transfers should be withdrawn immediately," urged M.K Raghavan MP, who inaugurated the protest on Thursday. C. Premavalli, Sasikumar Kavat and other leaders spoke. The protesters submitted a memorandum to district collector U.V Jose and he promised to look into the issue.
