Chennai: Claiming to be the daughter of M.K. Muthu, son of DMK president M. Karunanidhi, M.K.M. Sheeba Rani has approached Madras High Court to direct the police to produce her father before the court and set him at liberty.
A division bench comprising Justices C.T. Selvam and N. Sathish Kumar before whom the petition filed by Sheeba Rani came up for hearing, ordered notice to the Commissioner of Police, Chennai, Inspector of Police, Kotturpuram police station and M.K. Arivunithi, son of Muthu and posted after two weeks further hearing of the case.
According to Sheeba Rani, her father and her mother got married in the year 1988 and she was born on June 17, 1991. Till 2001, they were residing at Gopalapuram and thereafter, they shifted to Lloyds colony, where all of a sudden, Arivunithi, son of her father’s first wife, came along with his men, assaulted them and chased them out from the house. Thereafter, she and her mother were residing at Avadi.
Subsequently, when she and her mother met her father at Palavakkam, after which Arivinithi assaulted them and threatened them with dire consequences, she alleged.
She said from 2009 to 2014, she could not contact her father. In 2015, when she met her father at Thiruvarur, he was ill and she has to return to Chennai due to the threat unleashed by Arivunithi.
Thereafter, she and her mother could not contact or meet her father. She was not even sure whether her father was alive or not.
Her 75-year-old father was illegally detained by Arivunithi. Therefore, she gave complaints to the police. But, there was no response. Hence, she has filed the present petition, she added.
