AP High Court draws flak for failing to develop infratructure
Meahwile, the Centre claimed to have released about Rs 500 crore for developing requisite infrastructure to accommodate the AP HC.
Rajahmundry: The state government has drawn flak for hurriedly inaugurating the temporary AP High Court Complex at Nelapadu without providing all necessary facilities like court halls, chambers for judges and other facilities as per requirement.
The state government invited Chief Justice of India Justice Ranjan Gogoi and three more Supreme Court judges to take part in the inauguration of the temporary court complex on February 3, 2019. At the time of the inauguration, a chamber for the Chief Justice of AP HC and one or two chambers and court halls were made ready.
The state government reportedly informed the CJI that by mid-February, the temporary court complex would be ready to function to its full capacity so that the AP HC working from the CM’s Camp Office could be shifted.
However, the AP High Court is still functioning from the CM’s Camp Office and as works are still going on at the temporary court complex, it is not known as to when the HC currently functioning from the CM’s camp office would shift into the temporary court complex.
At the same time, a foundation stone was also laid for the construction of the Justice City and there has been no progress in construction of buildings so far.
Legal sources are critical about Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for “going on a publicity stunt by inaugurating the temporary court complex and setting up a foundation stone for the Justice City with no major progress in works”.
