Hassan: Congress leader and Hassan district in-charge minister A Manju and Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri have been at war since the time arrangements were being made for the Mahamastakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali. Now, they have crossed swords over the poll code of conduct in Hassan.

While the Deputy Commissioner has accused the minister of violating the code of conduct, Additional Deputy Commissioner Poornima has served a notice seeking a reply from Mr Manju by 10 am on Monday. But the Minister has questioned the DC’s understanding of the code of conduct.

Flying squad officials Ravi and Pundarik on Saturday got a tip-off that Manju’s office at the Inspection Bungalow premises was functioning behind closed doors. The flying squad found that the minister’s office had not been vacated despite the code of conduct coming into force.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle on Sunday, Mr Manju asked Rohini Sindhuri to directly serve him the notice regarding code of conduct and dubbed the search by flying squad officials on his office as an act of revenge by the DC. “What’s wrong in a minister’s office functioning despite the code of conduct? I’m still a minister and the district in-charge minister’s office is not that of the Congress party. There was no Congress flag hoisted at the office. Since it is a district in-charge minister’s office, people come there with grievances.”

He continued, “Will you close the Chief Minister’s office in Vidhana Soudha citing the code of conduct?” “Yes, the office was locked and the staff was working. It’s our office. Who are they to interfere in our office work when nothing illegal was happening?”
