Hyderabad: Gummadi Sadasiva Vara Prasad Rao, vice-chairman of the Agri Gold Farm Estates Private Limited, that is being investigated in a multi-crore scam, died on Monday afternoon reportedly of a heart attack.
Rao died near the exit of the Secunderabad railway station.
The Gopalapuram police registered a case of suspicious death and further investigation is underway.
According to the police Rao came to the city from Vijayawada by a train on Monday afternoon. While he was coming out from the station, he suddenly collapsed on the ground at the parcel counter.
Gopalpuram inspector M. Niranjan Reddy said he had come to the city to meet his relatives. Police registered a case under IPC Section 174 (suspicious death) based on a complaint from Rao’s son-in-law and further investigation is underway.
The police shifted Rao’s body to Gandhi Hospital mortuary and will hand it over to the family after the post-mortem.
“Only after the post-mortem examination results, can we clearly state the cause of death,” the inspector said.
