Vijayawada: Students urged to vote, create awareness

The programme is to make them aware about the importance of vote and their responsibility.

Vijayawada: Reminding students that they have a greater responsibility towards the nation, the Election Watch on Monday asked them to participate in the polling and also bring awareness on the importance of casting votes among the masses.

AP Election Watch state coordinator P.C. Sai Babu said that students can be  of the ‘change’ by casting vote. “Their casting votes will help strengthen democracy in the country. AP Election Watch is organising a programme where students can take a pledge. The programme is to make them aware about the importance of vote and their responsibility,” he said.

Students of College of Food Science and Technology, Bapatla took a pledge on Monday to cast their vote and motivate others to do so to ensure the maximum percentage of polling in the ensuing general elections. The students promised to vote honestly, fearlessly, without taking money and without being influenced by any undue inducement.

“If I come to know of any malpractices, I shall bring it to the notice of electoral authorities for taking up corrective actions,” the students pledged.
Associate Dean of the College Dr Ch. V.V. Satyanarayana asked the students to download cVIGIL application in their mobile phones and to bring the violations of model code of conduct to the notice of the election authorities.

Associate Professor Keerthi Reddy and others addressed the students on the importance of votes in the democracy.
