RTC staff unhappy with recent transfers
Officials who have been transferred have gone on leave, lobbying with the government to get back to the same seat
HYDERABAD: The decision of V.C. Sajjanar, TS Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) managing director (MD), decision to reshuffle officials who have been sitting on their seats for more than 10 years seems to have backfired.
Questioning the MD's decision, the officials said the restructuring would only push the RTC to more losses. Officials who have been transferred have gone on leave, lobbying with the government to get back to the same seat. A few officials have allegedly even switched off their mobile phones to avoid confrontation with the management.
As many as 100 officers including executive directors, depot managers and others were reshuffled, which created a furore among them. An officer, who was recently transferred, said on condition of anonymity, “These transfers will not bring any change to this organisation, when the management fails to deliver expected progress and penalise officers.”
As the first move, Sajjanar transferred all officials in the Bus Bhavan to their parent department. Over a week ago, he transferred as many as 100 officials who had been continuing in the same post for more than three years. As per norms, any officer who is deputed from the parent department should not work for more than three years in the same organisation.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Sajjanar said, “There has been a thorough study conducted in various sections and operations in TSRTC. Based on those reports, these transfers had been implemented. This is to increase the efficiency of the organisation. ‘The right man at the right place’ is the concept.”
The TSRTC MD further said it was not true that transferred officers were not cooperating. “All the officers took charge at posted places, except two, who went on leave. We have made arrangements at those places by substituting officers so that nothing would hinder the smooth flow of operations,” he said.
