KCR lays foundation stone for Kaleshwaram irrigation project
The project will provide water for 30 lakh acres in Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Medak and Warangal districts.
Karimnagar: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday laid the foundation stone for the Kaleshwaram irrigation project in the district. Rao said after completion, the said project would lift 300 TMC water from river Godavari.
"The project fulfils the need of irrigation water for north Telangana region and Rs 13,811 crore has already been released for its the construction," the Chief Minister told a gathering.
The project, which is expected to be completed in three years, will provide water for 30 lakh acres in Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Medak and Warangal districts.
"The Maharashtra Government has extended its cooperation for this project and soon we will sign an agreement with them", KCR added.
Earlier, the Chief Minister laid foundation stone for the Pump House at Kannepally village near Kaleshwaram. Telangana Assembly Speaker Madhusudana Chary, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, state ministers, MPs and others were present on the occasion.
