Telangana: 7 of marriage party electrocuted, 15 injured
In the mishap, seven persons, including the groom's father Nandi Ram and six other family members, died on the spot.
Sangareddy: Seven members of a marriage party were electrocuted and 15 others were injured when their vehicle came in contact with high tension wires in Telangana's Medak district, police said today.
The marriage of one Shiva Ram, a native of Ramsingh Tanda under Chaukanpally village in Medak was held at Manju Wada Tanda near Kamareddy in Nizamabad district yesterday.
The marriage party was returning to their village in a lorry at around 11 PM last night when the vehicle came in contact with the high-tension wires near Degaulwadi village, about six kms from their native village, Saida Naik, Circle Inspector of Narayankhed police station, said.
In the mishap, seven persons, including the groom's father Nandi Ram and six other family members, died on the spot, he said.
Besides, 15 others were injured, out of whom two were critical and shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad. The others injured were shifted to government hospital at Narayankhed, he said.
The bodies were also shifted to government hospital at Narayankhed and after a postmortem, they will be handed over to the relatives, police said.
There were nearly 70 people travelling in the lorry at the time of the mishap.
Police have registered a case.
