Ready Mission Bhagiratha by December: K Chandrasekhar Rao

The CM wants simultaneous laying of fibre optic cables along with Mission Bhagiratha pipelines to achieve the state government's goal.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday directed officials to ensure completion of Mission Bhagiratha by the end of December 2017 as planned and see that Godavari and Krishna water reaches every household by then. To achieve this, the CM asked officials to review the progress of Mission Bhagiratha works on a day-to-day basis and ensure all targets are met without delay.

Mr Rao wanted works to be expedited and in case any problems crop up during the execution of works, the working agencies, elected representatives, officials and engineers should coordinate and resolve the issues on the spot, to avoid delaying the project. Mr Rao wanted simultaneous laying of fibre optic cables and Mission Bhagiratha pipelines to achieve the state government’s goal of providing Internet facility for every household along with water connection.

He said this initiative will put Telangana state on par with the USA. The CM held a review meeting on Mission Bhagiratha works at Pragati Bhavan on Monday. Mission Bhagiratha vice-chairman Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Chief Secretary S.P. Singh, government adviser Gnaneswar, principal secretaries S. Narsing Rao, K. Ramakrishna Rao and Jayesh Ranjan, engineers and working agencies representatives were present in the meeting.

Mr Rao wanted the construction of intake wells and water treatment plants to be put on fast track. “The working agencies should stop delaying the works under one pretext or the other and all the works should be completed on time as per the agreement. All the works in the agriculture lands should be completed before the onset of monsoon in June. Intake wells and water treatment plants should be put into use one by one as and when they are completed,” Mr Rao suggested. The CM asked Genco CMD D. Prabhakar Rao to ensure power supply to Mission Bhagiratha works and complete other related work at the earliest.
