K T Rama Rao vows new roads, Metro
He made these announcements after inaugurating a 1.1 kilometre stretch on Outer Ring Road and Chintalkunta underpass at LB Nagar on Tuesday.
HYDERABAD: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T. Rama Rao has given multiple assurances to construct a 350 kilometres Regional Ring Road which would connect five districts in Telangana, Expressway on River Musi which would connect the east-west corridor and Metro rail operation from LB Nagar to Ameerpet by June. He made these announcements after inaugurating a 1.1 kilometre stretch on Outer Ring Road and Chintalkunta underpass at LB Nagar on Tuesday.
KTR said that the State Government was waiting for environment clearance to construct an Expressway on river Musi to ease traffic problems in the city. “We are hopeful about getting the environment clearance by August,” he said. The Minister said that efforts were on to inaugurate the LB Nagar-Ameerpet Metro Rail in June. “The government is committed for the development of the city in all fronts and as part of Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), construction of under passes, flyovers and other infrastructure facilities are being taken up,” he said.
The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister said that despite many hindrances in the form of court cases, the Outer Ring Road (ORR) is now completely operational. “A total of 19 toll management buildings have been opened on Tuesday, for all the 19 interchanges. In our plans to extend the city, 35 radial roads are going to be laid,” he said.
