Chandranna Bima aid to be doubled to Rs 10 lakh
Naidu asserted on the need for modernisation of workers’s skills, along with protecting their rights.
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the aid offered under Chandranna Bima Scheme would be increased to Rs 10 lakh from the present Rs 5 lakh. He participated in the International Workers’ Day Celebrations (May Day) at Vijayawada on Wednesday.
Mr Naidu asserted on the need for modernisation of workers’s skills, along with protecting their rights. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi damaged and weakened all sectors and workers faced a lot of trouble due to his biased policies to help the corporate sector.
Telugu Desam and its associated workers’ organisations conducted the May Day celebrations at Amaravati Convention Centre in Vijayawada. Mr Naidu said that Telugu Desam was formed by N.T. Rama Rao, to serve the workers.
He claimed that the TD Government implemented numerous welfare schemes for the workers. Mr Naidu recalled that he observed the problems of drivers during his walkathon and implemented welfare schemes for drivers.
He stated that Vijayawada is famous for automobiles but sadly there were no schemes to help drivers and their families. Hence, the TD Government introduced Chandranna Bima Scheme, under which `5 lakh aid will provided to the families, and TD is planning to increase the amount to `10 lakh. He further said that the TD Government has been constructing 30 lakh pucca houses in which 17 lakh houses would be given for free of cost to poor people and workers.
Mr Naidu said that TD Government has been exempting vehicle tax and third-party insurance to autorickshaw drivers and said that the TD Government began a Corporation for the welfare of drivers. He assured that TD will continue to work for the welfare of working classes in the future and felicitated workers from various sectors, on the occasion. Minister for water resources D. Umamah-eswara Rao, TD MLC Buddha Venkanna, Vijayawada mayor K. Sridhar and other leaders participated in the programme.
