Cricket betting gang busted in Nizamabad

Nizamabad: Commissioner Task Force and IV Town police busted an IPL cricket betting gang in Nizamabad on Wednesday. Police after receiving information, raided a house in Vinayaknagar and arrested three persons.

The accused were identified as Muddangula Suresh, 21, of Vinayaknagar, Muddangula Gangadhar, 28, of Navipet and Muddangula Raju, 24, of Vinayaknagar.

Police seized Rs 14,020, four cell phones and incriminating material from them. During interrogation, prime accused Muddangula Suresh confessed that he came in contact with some persons who were involved in IPL cricket betting.

The accused asked a few persons to bet on the cricket matches on Wednesday, however they were caught.

Task Force inspector Satyanarayana, IV Town SI V. Narender and their teams nabbed the cricket betting gang. Meanwhile, police commissioner Kartikeya said that IPL cricket betting is prohibited.

If anyone is found organising or betting they will be punished seriously, he warned.

 Special teams have been formed in Nizamabad, Bodhan and Armoor divisions to trace the cricket betting racket, he said.

Mr Kartikeya asked the people to inform the police through WhatsApp number: 94906 18029, CP WhatsApp 94913 98540, dial 100, special branch control room 94906 18000 and police control room 08462 226090 if cricket betting is noticed.
