Hyderabad: In a bid to ensure that the women employees working in the Cyberabad commissionerate limits reach home safely after work, the police has asked all companies to arrange transport for all women who might end up working beyond 8.30 pm.

The police has also asked the women to sign a declaration at their office in case they choose not to avail office transport on a certain day and to inform their families about their plans before leaving the office.

The Cyberabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Wednesday said that the police had received information that a few women working in IT and ITES companies had been opting not to avail the transport facility provided by their employers while leaving their offices and were found to be unavailable to their family members without any prior information.

“Several worried family members approached the police and lodged missing complaints because they couldn’t reach their children on the phone and had no idea about their whereabouts,” he said.

“All employees are advised to keep their family members or friends and colleagues informed about their plans after office hours if they choose to not avail office transport facilities on a certain day.

“Employees are further requested to sign a declaration on such days confirming that they have informed their family members about their plans,” said the commissioner.

He added that in case of emergencies, one may reach out to the police by dialing 100 or alternatively, by messaging on WhatsApp on 9490617444.

He said that as per the rules of the Labour Department (as stated in GO No. 51, issued on 16th June 2016), women who are required to work beyond 8.30 pm should be provided with transportation by the employer in order to ensure that they get home safely. He added that a notice to this effect in Telugu and English should be exhibited at the main entrance of every establishment to indicate the availability of transport.
