Major's body to be brought home today in Thiruvananthapuram

It was announced earlier that the body of the major would be brought home at Thirumala here on Wednesday evening.

Thiruvananthapuram : The body of Major K. Manoj who was killed in the fire at an ammunition depot in Maharashtra's Pulgaon on Tuesday will be brought to the state capital on Thursday evening. The body will be cremated at Shanthikavadam at 10.30 am on Friday.

It was announced earlier that the body of the major would be brought home at Thirumala here on Wednesday evening. It was delayed because of the procedures to be completed at Pulgaon, a defense official told DC. The body will be shifted to Pangode Military Hospital once it reached here and will be taken to the Major’s home on Friday morning.

The Major’s family belonged to Haripad in Alappuzha district but his parents and family have been living at Vettamukku in Thirumala here for several years. Major Manoj is survived by his father N. Krishnan, mother Bharathi, wife Beena and 12 year-old son Vedanth.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan visited the family on Thursday.
