Flash strike by BMTC staff

With around 500 buses suddenly going off the road, many passengers got stranded.

According to the sources, it all started with depot management changing the route of a women crew member, which triggered the protest. They alleged that depot manager and officials were harassing crew members. All the drivers and conductors, who had come for the second shift, took part in the protest.

Bengaluru: BMTC services were thrown out of gear for around one-and-half hours on Thursday, with around 500 crew members staging a flash strike at depot number 7, Subhashnagar, Majestic. The strike affected thousands of passengers.

According to the sources, it all started with depot management changing the route of a women crew member, which triggered the protest. They alleged that depot manager and officials were harassing crew members. All the drivers and conductors, who had come for the second shift, took part in the protest.

With around 500 buses suddenly going off the road, many passengers got stranded. 

Senior BMTC officials rushed to the spot and convinced the agitators to withdraw the strike, after nearly an hour.
