Telangana gets rains in many districts
There is also a thunderstorm warning till June 5, because of which temperatures have dropped significantly giving a sigh of relief to the public.
Hyderabad: The sky turned cloudy and the heat ebbed in the city on Saturday, even as rain lashed several parts of the state.
The IMD said the state received a cumulative 93 mm of rainfall in the districts of Jagtial, Karim-nagar, Mancherial and a few others.
Areas such as Gangadhara, Kaleshwa-ram, Pegadapalli , Kamm-arpalle, Jagtial, Nizamsa-gar, Ramagundam and others received heavy rainfall.
There is also a thunderstorm warning till June 5, because of which temperatures have dropped significantly giving a sigh of relief to the public.
Despite this, areas in the districts of Adilabad, Nalgonda and Nizamabad experienced high temperatures.
An IMD forecast said: “Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of up to 40 to 50 kmph and lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places over Telangana state.”
It was stated that thunderstorms and rain are caused by heat wave conditions, which are prevailing across the country. A trough extends from eastern Bihar via Vidharbha towards Tela-ngana and Karnataka.
The heatwave may slightly delay the monsoon by a couple of days. Because of this, the onset of monsoon over Kerala may occur between June 6 and 8, Mr Mahesh Palawat from Skymet Weather, a private forecaster, said.
With unseasonal rains, the temperatures have dropped by between 5oC and 7oC in most parts of the state. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 35.3oC, 4oC below the normal for this time of the year, and lower by 5.9oC from Friday, when the mercury stood at 41.2oC.
